THE WAR — a new PBS documentary mini-series about World War II by Ken Burns — is coming to KAKM this September 23rd.
As part of our presentation of THE WAR, we’re inviting friends and family of World War II veterans to record brief messages honoring the men and women who served our country — and the world — some 60 years ago. We will then air these messages during the broadcast of THE WAR, highlighting the sacrifice of the veterans closest to our fellow Alaskans.
UPDATE: We have wrapped up our testimonial taping project (as of Sep 19). Thanks to everyone that took part!
If you have a World War II veteran you’d like to honor, be sure to check out the information and invitation here on our web site. All you really have to do is gather some details about your veteran, hopefully find a photo, call us to schedule a brief taping session, then stop by the station at the appointed time.
After your testimonial is recorded, we’ll post it online to share with everyone and broadcast it on KAKM during THE WAR and in the weeks leading up to Veterans Day (November 11).
