DTV Converter Box Coupon Program Begins January 1

Between Jan. 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009, all US households are eligible to request up to two free coupons from the U.S. Department of Commerce, worth $40 each, to be used toward the purchase of up to two, digital-to-analog converter boxes. While the coupons aren’t expected to be issued until program-eligible boxes are available in local markets, consumers can sign up beginning January 1, 2008 by calling 1-888-DTV-2009 (1-888-388-2009) or visiting at www.dtv.gov.
NewsHour Begins HD Broadcasts

The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer began broadcasting in high definition earlier this week, unfortunately, KAKM can not receive the satellite feed and will have to wait until later this summer when the series is expected to be made available by PBS via a different satellite feed. KAKM Receives Major Rasmuson Foundation Grant

“For the Rights of All” Documentary tells the Extraordinary Civil Rights Story of Alaska Natives
The Rasmuson Foundation has awarded Alaska Public Telecommunications, Inc. (APTI) a $100,000 grant for the production of “For the Rights of All.”
“For the Rights of All,” a one-hour documentary by local award-winning filmmaker Jeffry Silverman of Blueberry Productions, tells the story of how Alaska Natives won equal rights for all Alaskans through non-violent social change — overcoming prejudice, disadvantage and bigotry.
