KAKM’s Spring Membership Drive begins Friday, Feb. 29 and continues through Monday, March 17, so we’ve included special daytime grids for the weekends of March 1-2, 8-9 and 15-16.
Consider making a financial contribution to KAKM during this special programming period and receive a special program-specific “thank you gift” from KAKM while knowing that you’re helping to keep quality public service television programming in our community year-round. Your investment in KAKM keeps national programs such as NOVA, NATURE, FRONTLINE and all the non-violent, non-commercial quality children’s educational programming on-air in our community as well as provides for the production of local programs such as KAKM’s election series RUNNING (see coverage of the Anchorage Municipal races and ballot propositions on Wednesday, March 26 from 7-10 p.m.), our daily weather show ALASKA WEATHER and the weekly public affairs program ANCHORAGE EDITION.
Only about 10% of KAKM viewers are financial contributors, but about 75% of our funding comes from local viewers and local program sponsors. These special pledge periods are an important part of our fund-raising efforts, so we hope you enjoy the special programming and know that we’ll return to our regular schedule on Tuesday, March 18. And if you’re already a financial contributor of KAKM — Thank You!

The radio program “Legends of Jazz” is now on TV, too and I’d love to see Ramsey Lewis do his introductions and play good jazz. . . I went to a taping in Chicago a few months ago, and was delighted to be in selected audience.
