I watched the first part of American Experience, George H.W. Bush. I was so looking foward to watching part 2 tonight. I checked the schedule to make sure I would not miss it, fully expecting it would begin at 8:00 as it did last night. I am unpleasently surprised to find it starts at 10:30. I have to get up and go to work in the morning, I will probably be asleep when it comes on. Is this some sort of bait and switch?
It is challenging to balance our need for on air fund raising with our program service, especially now that we are offering the PBS West Coast feed. In September 2006, we lost about half the KAKM personnel directly working in Programming/ Production and Operations due to budget cuts so we offer the PBS feed that we are able to make some changes to with personnel that remain. Anytime we do make a change, the problem becomes when, or if, to rescheduled the pre-empted program without perpetuating the problem indefinitely. However, it looks like I missed an opportunity to come up with a better solution in this case by airing the second half of AMERICAN EXPERIENCE on the following Sunday in place of AMERICA AT A CROSSROADS and AUSTIN CITY LIMITS, as both are repeats. (Although I’m sure I would have heard about this as well!) I do appreciate and share your frustration, so I hope you are able to record the program tonight or watch it online at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/bush41.
Sincerely,
Ms. Veronica Dent
