A profile of comedy legend Carol Burnett, who entertained viewers each week from 1967 to 1979 with her eponymous sketch-comedy show; and branched into serious drama with such fare as the teleplay “Friendly Fire.” Included: clips from her classic series.

AMERICAN SOUNDTRACK: DOO WOP’S GREATEST HITS
Tuesday, June 3, 8:30-10:30 pm; Repeats Saturday, June 7, 9:30-11:30 pm
This new “best-of” compilation presents more doo wop’s favorites.

CHRIS BOTTI: LIVE
Wednesday, June 4, 7:45-8:45 pm
Acclaimed trumpeter, gifted instrumentalist and talented composer Chris Botti joins the PBS family in his first PBS special.

JOHNNY CASH: A MAN AND HIS VISION
Wednesday, June 4, 8:45-11:00 pm
This special is a musical and narrative overview of one of the most innovative variety shows in television history. Running from June 1969 to March 1971, “The Johnny Cash Show” exposed the audience to an eclectic array of talent and established Johnny Cash as an American superstar.

GOOD EVENING EV’RYBODY: LOUIS ARMSTRONG
Thursday, June 5, 8:30-9:30 pm
This program presents a never-before-released concert performance of Louis Armstrong - and other musical greats, including Dizzy Gillespie and Mahalia Jackson - at the 1970 Newport Jazz Festival in celebration of Armstrong’s 70th birthday.

STEVE MILLER BAND: LIVE IN CHICAGO
Friday, June 6, 9-10:30 pm
Steve Miller Band performs some of the most memorable anthems of its generation, including “Fly Like an Eagle” and “Take the Money and Run,” in a concert at Chicago’s Ravinia Theatre. (CC, Stereo, HD)

RITA RUDNER: LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS
Saturday, June 7, 8:30-9:30 pm
Comedienne Rita Rudner shines in this stand-up concert event, which was recorded for PBS in February 2007 at Harrah’s in Las Vegas. (CC, Stereo)

HEARTBEAT OF DENALI

Here in Alaska’s interior lies a vast and wild landscape. Six million acres - nearly three times the size of Yellowstone - Denali National Park and Preserve is a refuge for all that live here and all that travel through. Heartbeats of Denali was named the winner in the 2006 audio/visual category media awards from the Association of Partners for Public Lands.

CROWN OF THE CONTINENT: Alaska’s Wrangel-St. Elias
Monday, June 2, 7:45-8:30pm

This is one man’s journey back to Alaska’s Wrangell-St. Elias - a remote alpine landscape of tremendous peaks and glaciers - which his family visited when he was a child. Enamored by the writings of Jack London and the expeditions of Israel Russell, the filmmaker’s father took his family to discover Alaska. The father’s dream soon became his son’s. The filmmaker’s beautiful images bring to light the transcendent power of nature, revealing both the interconnection between the environment and nature and the relationship between father and son.

VISIONS OF ISRAEL
Thursday, June 5, 9:30-11:00 pm
An aerial pilgrimage to the world’s only Jewish state — home to approximately 7.2 million and the Holy Land of Christianity, Islam and Judaism — showcases Israel in all its diverse glory in honor of the state’s 60th anniversary. (CC, Stereo, HD)
