KAKM Signal Update 3

Posted in Technical Updates
While KAKM’s on-air signal improved during the day Wednesday, it degraded in the evening hours. Our engineers made additional adjustments during Thursday morning (10/16) and are working on one more major correction in the late afternoon hours. Our engineers are feeling confident they’ve eliminated several possible culprits and are zeroing in on one specific element today.
The signal during the daylight hours today has been relatively solid, and as of this writing (about 3:00pm) the off-air signal appears nearly normal. If adjustments this afternoon are successful, we should have a solid signal through the night hours.
We are continuing to actively monitor our off-air signal and relay information to and from engineers in the field. Thanks again for your patience. More news will be posted as we have it.

What is going on on with the horrible signals during such important debate and discussion coverage of our persidential candiates. This is a horrible time to experiement with whatever new technology you are using. We used to get such a clear uninterrupted picture before digital. I am really disturbed esp. b/c I contribute a good sum of money to your station every year. Please help me understand what you are doing and when it will be better!!!!!
Willy — We’re not experimenting at all. We’ve experienced a collection of complex system errors since late last week and have been working them out one by one. The timing of these problems is indeed unfortunate, but none of the outages or signal problems have been planned.
As of Thursday evening, we believe the problem has been fixed, but we’re monitoring further to confirm that status over the next several days.
