Analog Service to Terminate June 12, 2009
Tue, April 7, 2009
If you are viewing TV over the public airwaves using an antenna, you must make the switch to DTV (digital TV) prior to June 12, 2009.
On that day, between 12:00 a.m. (midnight) and 6:00 a.m., KAKM Channel 7 will terminate its analog service.
This means that you either will have to use a converter box or a digital TV before June 12, 2009 if you want to continue receiving a TV signal.
DTV CONVERTER BOX COUPON PROGRAM
For a limited time, all U.S. households are eligible to request up to two free coupons, worth $40 each, to be used toward the purchase of up to two digital-to-analog TV signal converter boxes. These boxes allow older analog TVs to receive the new DTV signals. Consumers can sign up for the coupons by calling 1-888-DTV-2009 (1-888-388-2009) or visiting www.dtv2009.gov. As of February 2009, the converter box coupon program is undergoing several major changes. Visit www.dtv2009.gov for the latest information.
ONCE YOU HAVE MADE THE CONVERSION
Antenna - If you choose to use a converter, you will need to adjust your antenna to pick up a good reception. If you are not getting a clear signal or getting no signal at all, you may need a new VHF-UHF antenna. To learn more visit www.antennaweb.org or phone 1-888-CALL FCC. Antenna TV goes all digital on June 12 so get ready and tell a friend.
Rescanning – Remember to re-scan your converter box or digital TV set, especially after June 12, to get all your channels. Press menu on your remote and choose the channel scan function. By re-scanning, your TV set will find all the channels available in your area. Visit www.dtvanswers.com or phone 1-888-CALL FCC to learn more.
